The IIS “M. Montessori – E. Repetti” in Carrara (Italy), stands out for its deep humanistic tradition and its forward-looking commitment to European civic education. The institution dates back to 1860 and offers a purely humanistic and classical education. The Liceo Classico offers a rigorous curriculum based on Latin, Ancient Greek, philosophy, and literature — training students in critical thinking, ethical reflection, and cultural literacy. Moreover, the school’s educational curriculum also comprises Linguistic, Human Sciences and Socio-Economic academic paths.
Yet the IIS “Montessori-Repetti” is not only a guardian of classical heritage — it also stands as a strong supporter of European educational innovation. Through active participation in projects promoted by the EU, such as Erasmus+ and EUValues, the school will foster transnational cooperation, intercultural exchange, and democratic awareness. In this context, the IIS Repetti will collaborate with other Italian and foreign academic institutions, enriching the international education of its students. Through the active collaboration of CesUE, the school will promote workshops and training paths on European civic education, communication, and active citizenship.
A notable initiative is the upcoming workshop on European communication, developed in collaboration with EURACTIV Italia, which will offer students a unique insight into EU media, political discourse, and the role of informed public debate. These projects are designed to provide the students with the necessary tools to engage and analyse critically European institutions and the relative dynamics.
At “Montessori-Repetti”, this vision is embodied in various initiatives, such as ScriveREpetti, the school’s digital magazine, where students combine classical themes with contemporary European issues through creative and multimedia expression.
By blending the depth of classical studies with active participation in European dialogue, the IIS Repetti strives to shape young citizens who are not only academically prepared, but also civically conscious and globally connected.
